Chinatown Parade Marks ‘Year of the Ram’
Chinese-Americans in Los Angeles marked the Chinese New Year on Saturday with a parade and other festivities.
In Chinatown, the Year of the Ram parade featured traditional dancing lions, colorful floats, pageant queens and marching bands. About 2,000 people attended, Police Officer J. Munguia said.
During the parade, members of Chinese Democracy Advocates distributed flyers protesting alleged human rights violations of dissidents held in China.
Protesters asked supporters to write letters to the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles.
