College Basketball
Robert Morris College has sued the NCAA, claiming the penalties its basketball program received last year for rules violations were too severe, especially when compared to penalties received by top-ranked Nevada Las Vegas and other large schools.
The suit asks that the NCAA be stopped from banning Robert Morris from postseason play and requiring the college to return more than $88,000 in 1989 NCAA tournament revenue. A hearing is set for Thursday in Pittsburgh.
NCAA official James Marchiony declined to comment.
