Tony Rice, former Notre Dame quarterback, was drafted in the second round by the Barcelona Dragons of the new World League of American Football, which opens March 23. The first quarterback drafted was Brent Pease, who played for the Houston Oilers during the 1987 NFL players’ strike. Pease was drafted in the first round by the Birmingham Braves. Former Fresno State quarterback Kevin Sweeney was drafted in the second round by the Montreal Machine, and former San Jose State quarterback Mike Perez was selected by the Frankfurt Galaxy.
