From ‘Peaks’ to ‘Air’: ABC, which banished the woefully rated “Twin Peaks” to that TV limbo known as hiatus after last Saturday’s episode, has purchased a half-hour comedy pilot from “Peaks’ ” creators David Lynch and Mark Frost. Scheduled to be directed next month by Lynch from a script by Lynch and Frost, “On the Air” is about the early days of television. The show, which will contend for a spot on ABC’s fall schedule, has not yet been cast. ABC has promised to air the six remaining episodes of “Twin Peaks,” the last of which Lynch directed, later this year.
