‘Contacto 89’ Demise

Share

It is deplorable to see that officially KPBS, the public radio voice of San Diego State University has “preempted” (please read: eliminated, terminated, killed, removed, eradicated, purged, etc.) the Spanish language program “Contacto 89” after 10 years of broadcasting great Latin-American music, the only comprehensive news program in town dealing with world and Latin-American issues, presenting Latino personalities, promoting community events and those related to the Latino community and discussing important community issues.

This proves once more the blindness, complete lack of respect and basic understanding of the Latino community in San Diego, its impact on the economy, arts, culture and politics of our community.
