PLATFORM : All Should Pay

I think that’s unfair. Those homeowners and businesses are victims. They didn’t ask these people to come in and do it. Some of these places get hit every day. We go back three or four times a week in some cases.

A lot of these owners are senior citizens and can’t afford to pay. We don’t charge anybody. We do it because when you have graffiti, a neighborhood looks deteriorated, people become negative, they lose their self-respect. If an area is clean, it feels safe and sound.

I like the idea of everybody being assessed 50 cents a month on their gas bill for graffiti removal. That’s only $6 a year. People say why penalize people who don’t have graffiti in their neighborhoods or whose properties aren’t affected? But graffiti does affect everybody. They have to drive by it when they go down streets or to the shopping mall. It’s everybody’s problem.
