Patty Sheehan came out strong, came apart and came back Saturday to win the $350,000 Hawaiian Ladies Open in Honolulu.

Sheehan, who won her 26th LPGA event, shot a roller-coaster, two-under-par 70 to finish nine under in the 54-hole tournament. She was helped by the erratic putting of Beth Daniel, who finished three strokes behind, and a collapse by third-place finisher Pat Bradley.

Sheehan, who won $52,500, was three strokes ahead of Bradley and four up on Daniel at the turn after shooting birdies on the first and third holes and making three par saves.

Her lead dwindled to one stroke when she made bogeys on Nos. 10 and 11, but she came back with birdies on the 12th and 13th holes.

A two-shot swing on the 17th hole helped Bruce Crampton and Brian Waites win by a stroke as their International team split four matches with the United States in the Chrysler Cup.

The results left the United States leading, 28 1/2-23 1/2, in the $600,000 Senior Tour tournament at Sarasota, Fla. The final 48 points will be at stake in eight stroke-play matches today.

Crampton and Waites shot a nine-under-par 63 to edge George Archer and Charles Coody in team best-ball stroke play. Internationals Gary Player and Bob Charles played the final 11 holes in 10 under to beat Miller Barber and Chi Chi Rodriguez, 61-67.

Lee Trevino sank a 25-foot birdie putt on No. 18 as he and Al Geiberger edged Roberto DeVicenzo and Bruce Devlin, 65-66. Mike Hill made a 30-foot birdie putt on No. 17 as he and Jim Dent beat Harold Henning and Simon Hobday, 63-64.
