Pink Panther Lawsuit: Producer Blake Edwards has filed a $25-million lawsuit against MGM-Pathe Inc. in Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming the movie company backed out of a deal to finance another Pink Panther sequel. MGM-Pathe spokesman Craig Parsons had no comment on the allegations. Edwards, who produced seven of the comic Pink Panther movies, contends that the company “agreed in principal” to allow him to develop and produce another sequel but that MGM-Pathe Chairman Giancarlo Parretti vetoed the deal because the recent merger between MGM and Pathe left his company in financial difficulties.
