The Orange County Symphony of Garden Grove raised $7,675 in cash during a six-hour cable TV telethon Sunday.
“We estimate another $5,000 (in pledges) will come in,” said orchestra manager Yaakov Dvir-Djerassi on Monday. He valued donations of in-kind services, including the station’s donation of time and technical services, at $58,160. He said the proceeds will go toward erasing an operating deficit of about $12,000.
The orchestra, formerly known as the Garden Grove Symphony, changed its name last week to reflect its audience base and to broaden support throughout the county. The five-concert 1991-92 season opens Oct. 12.
