No. 1 Soul on Parole: Soul veteran James Brown, imprisoned 26 months ago on a six-and-a-half-year sentence for traffic and aggravated assault charges, was released from prison in Columbia, S.C., on Wednesday. The parole terms require Soul Brother No. 1 to submit to drug testing and a substance-abuse program until Oct. 23, 1993, plus a probation term that extends until 1998. Brown, 57, said he expects to have a new album in stores by June.
