Local waters have been yielding good catches of rockfish and calico bass. Halibut have started to bite again in Santa Monica Bay as Marina del Rey party boats caught more than 25 over the weekend.

Anglers are still waiting for a white sea bass run.

With squid plentiful along with perfect weather and water conditions, indications are that a run could start at Rocky Point and Catalina Island any day.

Fishing aboard the Phantom off Catalina and using live squid and light tackle, fisherman Arnie Searling of Long Beach hooked and landed two white sea bass that weighed 12 pounds each.
