SPORTS ON WEEKEND TV : Basketball, Hockey, Marathon Action

The Lakers, Clippers and Kings share the weekend television spotlight with 32 college basketball games and the sixth running of the Los Angeles Marathon.

Pro Basketball: The Lakers will make their second consecutive Sunday appearance on NBC (Channels 4, 36 and 39) against the Houston Rockets at 12:30 p.m. at the Forum. NBC’s Sunday doubleheader will begin at 10 a.m. with the Portland Trail Blazers meeting the Boston Celtics. The Clippers will visit the Detroit Pistons for a 5 p.m. KTLA Channel 5 telecast.

College Basketball: Most of the weekend schedule will be conference tournament games. Two of the nation’s hottest teams, Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine, will play in the West Coast Conference tournament. The Lions, winners of 10 straight, meet USF at 2 p.m. today on SportsChannel. The Waves take their 13-game winning streak into a 6 p.m. quarterfinal game against Portland on SportsChannel. In regular season games, Cal State Fullerton plays host to No. 1 Nevada Las Vegas on KDOC Channel 56 at 8 p.m. Channels 2 and 63 will carry the UCLA-Washington game Sunday at 3 p.m..

Other Sports: KCOP Channel 13’s telecast of the L.A. Marathon begins at 8 a.m. Sunday with the 26-mile, 385-yard race beginning at 9. The Kings will try to beat the Winnipeg Jets for the fourth time in nine days beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Prime Ticket.
