THOUSAND OAKS : Fire in Car Engine Damages House
A Thousand Oaks house was partially destroyed by a fire that started in the engine compartment of a car parked in the garage, authorities said.
The fire caused $140,000 damage to the structure and $24,000 damage to the contents of the house in the 200 block of Odebolt Drive, said Denis Miller, Ventura County fire dispatcher.
Officials were unable to determine cause of the engine fire because the area around the car was so charred, Miller said.
Owners Steve and Pam Friedman were not at home when the fire started but returned after firefighters had arrived, Miller said.
