John McEnroe will face MaliVai Washington, who defeated Udo Riglewski of Germany, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.

Patrick McEnroe, ranked 55th on the ATP ranking list, broke Reneberg in the opening game of the first set, passing him three times. Reneberg continued to slam returns into the net, hitting balls wide and getting caught on short volley returns.

In the seventh game, Reneberg saved break-point three times before losing the game and set by hitting a ball long.

McEnroe waited until the fourth game of the second set to break Reneberg, earning a 3-1 edge when Reneberg drove a forehand volley over the end line.

Top-seeded Ivan Lendl overcame an early setback against Switzerland’s Jakob Hlasek to advance to the semifinals of the ABN Amro Indoor tournament with a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, victory in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
