Man Pleads Guilty in Slaying of Woman, 81
A 24-year-old Sun Valley man pleaded guilty Tuesday to first-degree murder in the 1986 rape and beating death of an 81-year-old woman.
Eddie Wayne Stone will be sentenced March 26 in San Fernando Superior Court. He could receive 25 years to life in prison for the murder of Frances Landry, Deputy Dist. Atty. Harold S. Lynn said.
Landry’s partly clothed body was found the morning of April 15, 1986, in her home in the 8300 block of Clybourn Avenue after a niece reported that she had not heard from her aunt in several days, Los Angeles police said
“He beat her, raped her, then beat her again,” Lynn said of Stone.
Police later received information that Stone, whose sister lived next door to Landry, was involved in the crime. He was arrested in Klamath Falls, Ore., a year after the crime.
