The debut album by Wilson Phillips, the vocal trio that sings those smooth harmonies, returned to the Top Five of the Billboard magazine chart, leaping two rungs to No. 4. On the chart nearly a year, “Wilson Phillips” has sold more than 4 million copies. The reason for this new surge is the threesome’s latest hit single, “You’re in Love,” No. 14 this week. Enigma’s “MCMXC A.D.,” No. 29 after three weeks, is the fastest rising new album. On the pop singles chart: Mariah Carey’s “Someday” is still No. 1; after a momentous chart debut at No. 15, Madonna’s “Rescue Me” has advanced only four places, to No. 11, in two weeks.

* The heavy-metal band Great White, one of the most popular bands in the genre, is off to a fast start with its new album, “Hooked,” which entered the chart at No. 48.
