Veteran jockey Herb McCauley suffered multiple injuries when his mount fell while in close quarters during the third race Friday at Aqueduct.
McCauley, 33, who has ridden more than 2,000 winners, had five broken ribs and a partially collapsed right lung. “He is in stable, but guarded condition,” said George Berry, a physician’s assistant at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
McCauley’s mount, War Music, was not injured.
