COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Moler Home Run Helps Titans Beat Iowa State
Jason Moler, an Esperanza High graduate and transfer from Illinois, hit his first home run for Cal State Fullerton, helping the Titans to an 8-3 victory over Iowa State on Friday at Amerige Park.
Moler hit a two-run homer in the second inning and Bill Fitzgerald (3-2) struck out eight and allowed seven hits in 7 1/3 innings for the Titans (9-11).
In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. baseball:
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 1, Chapman 0--Doug O’Neil scored for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (10-9, 4-3) in the top of the seventh inning on a single by Jared Snyder that was bobbled by left-fielder Chris Sauritch. Pete Coleman pitched the complete game, allowing six hits and striking out four for Chapman (7-13, 3-4).
In the Southern California Intercollegiate men’s tennis championships:
Anteaters advance--Brett Hansen-Dent defeated Fritz Bissell of UCLA, 6-1, 6-4, to advance to the singles semifinals today. Hansen-Dent also defeated Mike Gennette of Cal Lutheran, 6-4, 6-4.
