GET OFF MY CLOUD: British rockster Roy Harper is making a comeback, but don’t expect to see him touring Iran, Pakistan, Malaysia, Egypt or any other predominantly Muslim countries. Harper’s new album, “Once,” features a song titled “The Black Cloud of Islam,” which begins as a defense of Salman Rushdie’s “Satanic Verses” and concludes by ridiculing a host of Islamic religious practices. Sample lyrics: “What kind of God can this be anyway, that you have to prostrate to him five times a day, with hate in your heart and a gun in your hand, is force the only thing to understand underneath the black cloud of Islam?” . . . Meanwhile, Sinead O’Connor, who’s managed to blast everything but Islam in recent months, has decided that its time to ditch the press too. O’Connor was happy to appear on MTV’s new Martha Quinn-hosted interview show, “Rockline,” which airs live every Tuesday at 7 p.m. But after pressure from O’Connor, MTV had to get rid of a crowd of local rock writers who had been invited to watch the encounter.
