Little Dorrit: Nobody’s Fault (TMC Tuesday at 4:45 a.m.) and Little Dorrit’s Story (TMC Wednesday at 4:45 a.m.) Christine Edzard’s masterful, two-part 1988 adaptation of the Dickens’ classic unfolds first from the point of view of an ineffectual clerk (Derek Jacobi) and then from that of the resilient young seamstress Little Dorrit (Sarah Pickering). Wonderful performances and period re-creation.

The Kitchen Toto (TMC Wednesday at 10 a.m.) With detachment and compassion writer-director Harry Hook records in this fine 1987 release those first fissures in a colonial society that foreshadow its inevitable disintegration. By the time the film reaches its conclusion Hook has managed to bring Kenya’s fight for independence to bear upon one small, bright black boy (Edwin Mahinda).
