Costa Mesa Seeks Order Aimed at Closing Bar
COSTA MESA —
The city filed a lawsuit Tuesday aimed at shutting down Hogue Barmichael’s saloon as a public nuisance.
Since 1986 patrons of the saloon at 1976 Newport Blvd. have been plaguing residents with late-night noise, boisterous and lewd conduct, littering, trespassing and illegal parking, the city alleges.
The lawsuit, filed in Superior Court in Santa Ana, asks for a permanent court order barring the property from being used as a bar with live music, entertainment or dancing.
