Ground turkey contains only 60 calories and three grams of fat per cooked ounce. When compared with cooked lean ground beef, ounce for ounce, ground turkey has 40% less fat and 25% less calories. Cooked ground turkey can also be dry and tasteless. But it doesn’t have to be if you know how to prepare it properly (avoid overcooking and use additional seasonings for flavor). The Louis Rich Company, a supplier of ground turkey, has come out with a handy brochure with tips on how to properly prepare ground turkey, and several simple recipes. For a free copy write: Louis Rich Consumer Center, Dept. FGT, P.O. Box 7188, Madison, Wis. 53708.
