A 35-year-old Bellflower man was shot to death as he sat in his car with his older sister in a residential neighborhood in North Long Beach, sheriff’s deputies said Wednesday.

Deputy Roger Hom said the man and his sister drove to a residence in the 6900 block of Orcutt Avenue. The sister waited in the car while the man went into the house and returned just minutes before midnight Tuesday. She told officers that shortly after her brother returned to the car, they saw another man walking down the middle of the street.

Hom said the man raised a pistol and held it with both hands as he fired into the windshield, fatally wounding the Bellflower man. The sister was not injured. The gunman fled and the victim was taken to Dominguez Valley Hospital, where he died 15 minutes later. The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of relatives.
