DON’T PANIC: Fullerton officials say they’re “a little embarrassed” by irate callers accusing the city of wasting water. But City Engineer Larry Sears has an explanation for the gushing water in the northwest part of the city. . . . He says new water mains are being installed and state law requires that they be flushed out. He notes the water has “high concentrations of chlorine” and can’t be drunk. The city tries to recycle it for landscaping.
