Labor Accord Near: A labor dispute that threatened New York City’s spring film production season neared resolution Tuesday, when unionized cinematographers and studio mechanics reached a tentative contract agreement with five major Hollywood studios. The agreement will be submitted to union members for approval next week. The unions achieved much of what they had been seeking in improvements in welfare and pension benefits, and the studios, in turn, won concessions that will reduce the amount of “premium pay” earned by the union employees.
