VENTURA : Office Worker Held in Theft of $15,000
An employee of Ventura County Public Health Services was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of embezzling $15,000 from the agency, officials said.
Ida Marie Blackman, 40, of Ojai was working as an office assistant when she took the money, Ventura police spokesman Graham Jeffrey said.
The money allegedly was taken between November, 1990, and February, 1991. The theft was discovered after an investigation by county officials and Ventura police officers.
Blackman was in Ventura County Jail on Wednesday night in lieu of $5,000 bail.
