Should It Stay or Go? The Southwest Museum, which said last year it was considering vacating its historic Mount Washington complex, has announced it is retaining consultants to conduct marketing, engineering and architectural studies on implications of moving versus staying put. The museum said the research would take at least six to nine months. Officials hope to make a final decision on whether to move later this year. The museum also has disclosed that it has laid off three full-time and five part-time employees. It has also shut down the Casa de Adobe, a reproduction of a historic Southern California adobe residence operated as a satellite facility nearby in Highland Park.
