Aztecs’ Dow to Play in All-America Game

San Diego State senior center Marty Dow was named to play Friday on the West team of the National Assn. of Basketball Coaches All-America Game at Indianapolis, it was announced Monday.

The game, to be at the Market Square Arena, site of this weekend’s Final Four play, features some of the nation’s top senior talent. The 4 p.m. game will be televised on ESPN at 6.

Dow, 7-feet, was the Aztecs’ leading scorer (17 point-per-game average) and rebounder (9.5 average) this season and led the Western Athletic Conference in rebounding.

MEN’S TENNIS

Point Loma Nazerene split its singles matches with Luther in a Golden State Athletic Conference contest, but won 5-3 on the strength of its two doubles victories.

San Diego State defeated Georgia Tech, 5-2, in a nonconference match. Jeff Belloli and Dax Peterson defeated Brad Prybis and Jay Narenberg, 6-1, 6-1, to clinch the victory for SDSU (11-3). Belloli and Peterson are ranked 23rd in the nation.

BASEBALL

Brent Ferguson’s three-run homer in the seventh put San Diego State ahead and on its way to a 6-2 victory over Iona. Scott Dennison went two for three with two doubles for the Aztecs (20-7).
