Barkley: 1-Game Suspension, Fine
The NBA suspended Charles Barkley of the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday for one game and fined him $10,000 for spitting on fans during a game Tuesday night at Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, N.J.
Barkley, an All-Star forward, did not play Thursday night against the Charlotte Hornets in a game lost by the 76ers, 94-90.
Barkley lost his temper and targeted a heckler sitting in the court-level seats, but spit on an 8-year-old girl sitting behind the man.
“You do stupid things, and stuff like that happens,” Barkley told the Philadelphia Daily News.
