It’s really not hard to explain why critics love repellent movies. They are simply the most public of voyeurs who need a greater rush of adrenaline to get their juices flowing.

Their senses have been numbed by watching, over the years, increasingly violent movies. How else can you explain why the L.A. and New York film critics chose “GoodFellas” as their best picture?
