New Way to Get Around

Long Beach Transit’s new Runabout shuttle bus began service Monday. Blue and white minibuses with a nautical theme are scooting around downtown every five minutes, following two different routes. One goes up and down Ocean Boulevard from Atlantic Avenue to Golden Shore and the Catalina Terminal, and the second follows Pine Avenue from the Hyatt Regency Hotel near Shoreline Village to 6th Street and then swings over to Long Beach Boulevard for part of the return trip. The shuttle will be free the first three weeks and then the fare will be 25 cents. Stops are marked with a Runabout sign. The service operates from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
