COSTA MESA : Contract Awarded for Fire Station

Share

The City Council awarded a $1.5-million contract this week to the Edwards Group of Newport Beach to build a fire station north of the San Diego Freeway.

The two-story, 8,698-square-foot building will include office space, living quarters and an equipment room.

The council last year issued $15 million in revenue bonds to finance the fire station--the city’s sixth--as well as the Costa Mesa Senior Center and additional costs for the Victoria Street widening project.

The fire station, which will be constructed at 3350 Sakioka Drive, is considered essential to the commercial buildings and homes in north Costa Mesa. Equipment and supplies, including a fire engine, are expected to add another $800,000 to the cost of the station.
