SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : School Boundaries May Be Adjusted
Students entering the ninth grade in September who live in northern Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo would attend Capistrano Valley High School instead of Dana Hills High School under a plan being considered by the Capistrano Unified School District.
The plan, if adopted, would affect Aliso Viejo residents who live north of Aliso Creek Road and Laguna Niguel residents living in an area roughly bounded by La Paz Road, Paseo de Colinas, Crown Valley Parkway and the city’s northern limits.
Students who live within those boundaries who are now enrolled at Dana Hills High will be allowed to decide which school to attend.
The Board of Trustees has scheduled a public hearing on the plan for Monday and expects to make a decision at its May 6 meeting. The boundaries were drawn by a committee of parents and administrators.
The plan, which would affect about 140 students, is necessary because of overcrowding at Dana Hills High, which has 2,800 students.
