Saving Water
The Sacramento Valley rice farmers have a lot of gall when they mention welfare in urban areas (“State Growth Threatens Way of Life in Rice Towns,” April 7). These rice farmers are recipients of one of the greatest welfare frauds in U.S. history, i.e. farm subsidies. Let the survival of their classic California culture go the way of the gold mining towns of the 1800s.
