WEEKEND TV : Wilson Assesses His First 100 Days

A multibillion-dollar budget deficit, a severe drought and the problems of a furiously expanding population, and still you want to be governor of California?

Pete Wilson did, and Sunday at 7:30 p.m. on Channel 28, Wilson assesses his first months on the job in “Governor Wilson’s First 100 Days.” In an interview with reporter Sue Pearson Atkinson, Wilson will reveal his plans for budget cuts, taxes, battles with the Democrat-controlled Legislature, the drought, the crisis in education and other pressing state issues.

“Water Watch: A Drought Survival Guide,” airing tonight at 7 on Channel 4, offers a guide to surviving water rationing. The program includes tips on how to replace faulty home faucets with water-saving models, how to use recycled water for gardening and how to landscape with “drought resistant” plants.

The Discovery Channel begins a weeklong series Sunday at 7 p.m., with a repeat at 11 p.m., called “America’s Natural Playgrounds.” The series, continuing nightly through Saturday, includes visits to the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, the Adirondacks, Niagara Falls and the Appalachians.

Also Sunday at 7 p.m., Channel 34 will broadcast the premiere episode of “3 x 2,” the first Spanish-language sitcom produced in the United States. Set in the San Fernando Valley, the show centers around a Cuban-American restaurateur, his Mexican-American schoolteacher wife and her unmarried best friend as they struggle to succeed in Los Angeles.
