Plea to Developers: Maintain Bike Paths

Share

With its clearly designated bike lane and comparatively uncongested traffic flow, the stretch of Lomita Boulevard between Crenshaw Boulevard and Anza Avenue is a highly prized east-west thoroughfare for South Bay bicyclists. As such, I hope that Norman La Caze and other involved developers and the Torrance City Council members, mayor and planning commission work to design the upcoming Torrance Crossroads shopping center at Crenshaw and Lomita in a manner that will not disrupt the comfort and safety of bicyclists who use, and hope to continue using, this valued route.

If city planners and private sector developers (sometimes the distinction is dim) would seek to expand our bike routes instead of eroding the few we currently have, more people would be inclined to ride their bicycles. Consider, if commuters bicycled to work just one day a week, pollution and traffic congestion could be decreased up to 20%.
