Prime Ticket to Broadcast SDSU Football, Basketball

San Diego State has reached an agreement in principle with Prime Ticket to televise eight football games and eight basketball games next season, said John Wadas, SDSU associate athletic director.

The plan is to simulcast all 16 Prime Ticket games with XTRA, the Aztecs’ radio station next season. SDSU will sell its own advertising time on Prime Ticket, the same deal it has with XTRA. Wadas said SDSU made between $30,000 and $40,000 from Prime Ticket telecasts last year and that he didn’t expect much of an increase this year.

Nearly every SDSU football game will now be telecast--eight on Prime Ticket and the Brigham Young and UCLA games on ESPN. If ESPN or a network pick up the Miami game Nov. 30, the Oct. 5 game at Hawaii would be the only non-televised game.

Wadas said the eight Prime Ticket basketball games likely will include the UCLA game at the San Diego Sports Arena Dec. 14, SDSU’s game at UC Irvine and six Western Athletic Conference games.

In addition, SDSU has reached a verbal agreement with ESPN to televise the championship game of its Texaco Star Basketball Classic on Dec. 21.

South Carolina, George Washington and, most likely, Pennsylvania will participate in this year’s Texaco Star Classic.
