Boy, 6, Critically Hurt by Hit-and-Run Driver
A 6-year-old boy was struck by a hit-and-run driver and critically injured Monday as he walked his bicycle through a crosswalk in front of Sierra Vista Elementary School in La Puente where he is a student, authorities said.
The youngster, whose name was withheld, was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina where he was listed in critical condition, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
The boy was struck at 1:30 p.m. by a 1977 white Dodge station wagon traveling west on Sierra Vista Court at about 45-50 m.p.h. as it approached Fifth Avenue, officers said. Deputies said they believe the driver was a woman.”
