Sheriff’s officials said Friday that a man attending open houses in the Camarillo area is a suspect in the theft of two wallets and other items.

The man apparently stole a wallet containing $576, a gold Madonna and rosary beads from Marie Gallo, 75, who is selling her mobile home at the Lamplighter Camarillo Mobile Home Park on Pleasant Valley Road, Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Keith Lazz said.

Gallo discovered the robbery after an unidentified woman who also had her house up for sale said a man had stolen her wallet while touring her house, Lazz said. The man dropped a flyer from Gallo’s mobile home sale while visiting the woman’s house, Lazz said.

“I guess he’s very smooth at palming stuff,” Lazz said. “I’m sure if he’s done it to these two, he’s done it to more.”
