Ventura : 50,000 Expected to Attend Beach Party
More than 50,000 people are expected to join in a mile-long beach party in Ventura this weekend, featuring music from the 1950s and ‘60s, bed races, sporting events and sandcastle contests.
The two-day event, sponsored by the city of Ventura, is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. between the pier and the fairgrounds. It will include a volleyball tournament and a longboard surfing competition. Today, more than 200 participants will join in a biathlon. On Sunday, athletes will race for 10 kilometers from the Ventura Promenade.
Other highlights include bands, a kite-flying contest, a convertible car show and skating demonstrations.
