BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : Walsh Might Have Torn Rotator Cuff

Share

Dave Walsh, who was the top candidate to be the Dodgers’ left-handed reliever until they acquired John Candelaria, has a possible tear in his rotator cuff and will require arthroscopic surgery May 7.

Walsh was placed on waivers at the end of spring training, then sent to triple-A Albuquerque, where he made one appearance before complaining of a sore left shoulder.

The shoulder might have been been affected by constant use. Walsh has regularly pitched in Mexico during the winter.

It was turned by Eugene Hermanski, Jackie Robinson and Gil Hodges. There has never been a triple play in Los Angeles franchise history. . . . Rick Reuschel is back out of the San Francisco Giant pitching rotation, and Kelly Downs is back in, after Reuschel was placed on the disabled list because of fluid buildup in his right knee.
