Benjamin Gray, 88, an attorney who fled Poland at the outbreak of World War II and later came to Los Angeles where he helped local Holocaust survivors pursue restitution claims against the German government. Born Benjamin Graubart, his appointment as a prosecuting attorney in prewar Poland was highly unusual because he was a Jew. Locally, he represented many concentration camp survivors in claims against the Germans and was credited with helping persuade West Germany to extend its statute of limitations for war crimes.
