ANAHEIM : Stolen Car, Poodle in It Still Missing

Share

The last time Gertrude Caulder saw Fredie, her 22-month-old poodle, the dark-haired dog was inside her car. Unfortunately, the car was being driven off by a robber.

That was Easter Sunday. And neither Fredie nor Caulder’s blue, 1978 two-door Chrysler Cordoba have been recovered.

Caulder’s car, with Fredie inside, was taken about 1:30 p.m. by a man who accosted her as she sat in her car in a parking lot at 310 S. Magnolia Ave., Detective Paul Gallagher said.

Caulder told police that the robber grabbed her car keys during a brief scuffle. She escaped from the car but Fredie didn’t, Caulder said.

“This was the smartest and prettiest dog I have ever had,” Caulder, 64, said in describing the curly-haired miniature black poodle.

She said the dog weighs about 14 pounds, is about 2 feet long and stands about 10 inches at the shoulder.

Fredie is registered with the American Kennel Club, Caulder said, but when the robber made off with the car, the dog was not wearing his license.

The car thief and dognaper was described as Hispanic, about 20 to 30 years old, 5-feet-7 and about 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, police said.

The license plate on the stolen vehicle is California 314 VQD. Anyone with information is asked to call the Anaheim Police Department.
