Ticketron Deal OKd: The Justice Department said it will not stand in the way of Ticketmaster’s acquisition of Ticketron. The two ticket giants struck a deal in February in which Ticketmaster agreed to buy certain assets from Ticketron, essentially putting its largest competitor out of business. Critics of the takeover had raised concerns that Ticketmaster might be positioning itself to monopolize the national ticket market. Because of the size of the transaction--terms of which remain undisclosed--both companies were required to file notice with the federal government under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act.
