Walnut : Planning Director Retires
George Shindo, Walnut’s director of planning and community development, is retiring after 22 years with the city. He will be replaced by Roger Friesen, a planning official with Brea.
Shindo, 63, of Covina will leave his post June 30. Before joining the city staff, Shindo was a regional planner for Los Angeles County.
Friesen, 37, who will begin his duties June 1, has served as Brea’s assistant director of development services for two years. He will receive an annual salary of $62,230.
