Irvine Police Should Help, Not Harass, in Solving Bike Problem

Share

So, I read that the Irvine police are going to “strictly enforce” traffic laws against bicyclists. The police are spending the next month of weekends unabashedly harassing groups of cyclists.

Well, Irvine, you have once again lived up to the image of having nothing better to do than harass motorists and cyclists who drive through your city. Face it, no matter how often you deny the harassment charge, the image remains. Irvine cops just keep contributing to the facts.

The Irvine police fantasy of mad-dog bicyclists running roughshod over motorists doesn’t deserve rebuttal. The Irvine police cannot point to one traffic accident where a cycling group collided with a poor defenseless motorist.

Cyclists ride in “packs” because there is safety in numbers. The city of Irvine wants to stop this practice because a few Irvine residents had to change lanes to pass the “pack.”

Irvine, rather than going for the easy crimes, why don’t you emphasize real problems? Get your priorities straight.
