Officer’s Kindness Beyond Call of Duty

Share

I was traveling east on the Ventura Freeway at approximately 10 a.m., driving my friend to his father’s funeral at Forest Lawn, when my engine failed. It could not have happened at a worse time.

My friend and I pushed the car out of the flow of traffic, and immediately I called the Highway Patrol. Moments later, CHP Officer S.C. Stanley drove up. He remained with us until the tow truck arrived and was very sympathetic to our situation, particularly when my friend feared he would not be present at his father’s funeral.

With the funeral only 20 minutes away, it became apparent that we would miss the service, as there was not enough time to call a taxi. Officer Stanley, sensing our predicament and despair, offered to drive us to Forest Lawn. We immediately accepted and were able to make the funeral services.

Both my friend and I are most appreciative of Officer Stanley’s support, cooperation and performance beyond the call of duty and want to express our sincere thanks.
