The Master Chorale has been awarded a $30,000, two-year grant from the James Irvine Foundation--a grant that comes at an especially opportune time: The chorale, which received $15,000 from the City of Costa Mesa last year, missed its deadline for this year’s city grant due to a clerical error, according to a spokeswoman.

Eggplant, calling it quits after emerging as one of Orange County’s finest alternative-rock bands, has rescheduled its last gig, which had been set for tonight at the now-defunct Peppers Golden Bear.
