Rams’ Perry Not Expected to Join Team Until July Camp

Share

Ram Coach John Robinson said Wednesday that offensive lineman Gerald Perry isn’t expected to join the team until July. Perry, a former Denver Bronco, is attempting to plea bargain a third-degree sexual assault charge in Denver.

Robinson previously said he hoped Perry could be with the Rams during their two weeks of mini-camp this month, but Wednesday said he just wants Perry to be available for training camp, which is scheduled to start in mid-July.

“What was decided is that it would be best for him to be able to leave Denver after everything was finished,” Robinson said. “And we’ll go from there. We expect him early in July to be here, ready to go, unencumbered by any more legal problems.”

Perry, who has a June court date stemming from the charges, is expected to serve a jail sentence of about two weeks in Denver, then join the Rams.

Robinson said Perry’s missing mini-camp time won’t hinder his ability to play immediately for his new team.
