Valley Center
Sheriff’s homicide detectives, called to Valley Center early Monday by a hunter who found a shoe protruding from the ground, uncovered a body buried in a shallow grave.
Investigators will be able to determine the sex, age, identity and approximate time of death only after the dirt encasing the corpse has carefully been removed, said John Armendariz of the coroner’s office.
The hunter called the Sheriff’s Department shortly before 8 a.m. The grave was near the 28600 block of Miller Road, authorities said.
The body was exhumed by detectives and personnel from the Sheriff’s Department crime lab and the coroner’s office, Sheriff’s Sgt. Roy Stamper said.
